Host Gator

I have been with Host Gator now since the fall of 2008.  The experience has been great.  I use the Business Shared Hosting plan.  The unlimited bandwidth, and drive space are comforting to have.  I doubt that I will hit huge volumes of traffic, but like an unlimited phone service, its is a security blanket I will take.

For those that find what I have to say helpful, I'd like to offer an AFFILIATE LINK to HostGator.

Host Gator with the business plan, includes a single dedicated IP and SSL.  That is important if you plan to have a site that does ecommerce.  I am currently exploring such options.

They are good at keeping the server software current and are approaching 2 million sites.  They have been listed as one of the fastest growing businesses around!  Expect this stalled economy to have little effect, for they are a good value.  I use Drupal and PHP on Host Gator to provide this site.  Its been all good.  I had issues sorting out SSL, and an email to support had the whole thing fixed for me in no time flat.  (The only SSL you can see here is the login link, until I implement the ecommerce pages.)

Make sure on initial signup you check their site for sales, and maybe search for other coupon codes.  Back on 11/28/2008 the Thanksgiving Black Friday shopping day saw a 75% discount.  Initial sign-up can usually be a great deal.  Then you will be hooked on services.  Renewal will be their standard pricing, but hopefully you see the true value by then.  Something I have heard, is that you may be able to call right after signing up and get a year or two extra at the discounted price.  If you have the cash, and are willing to risk your level of satisfaction, that is the time to get in on a great deal.
